Cancers We Treat

Blood Cancer & Hematologic Conditions

The Hematology Division at the Bennett Cancer Center offers treatment for blood cancers and other hematologic conditions including acute and chronic leukemias, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia, non-Hodgkins and Hodgkins lymphoma, myeloproliferative disorders and myelodysplasia.

Besides treating blood cancer, we also treat patients with a variety of bleeding and clotting problems including platelet disorders, von willebrand disease, factor 11 deficiency and hemophilia as well as autoimmune diseases. Integrated multidisciplinary care coordinated with fertility experts and high risk obstericians is available to women with either high-risk pregnancies or infertility as a result of hematologic problems.

Our patients have access to a large number of clinical studies, including promising novel targeted therapies, prior to FDA approval. These drugs act much like "heat-seeking missiles," targeting the lesions that drive specific blood cancers or abnormal hematologic processes.

Patients benefit from the dedicated and coordinated teamwork of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, hematologists, surgeons and oncology nurses, along with other medical specialists and support staff, whose varied expertise underlies the strength of the hospital's multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment and recovery from blood cancer and hematologic diseases.
