Medical Oncology
For patients who are diagnosed with colorectal cancer, your treatment — which may include chemotherapy — will be continued at the Bennett Cancer Center. Medical oncology services are available on the second floor of the Center at Hematology Oncology, PC, a private practice consisting of seven physicians, specially trained nurse practitioners, oncology nurses and additional support staff. The services provided by the practice include:
Preoperative (Neoadjuvant) Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy might be used to try to shrink the size of the tumor prior to surgery.
Adjuvant Systemic Therapies
Chemotherapy and other targeted therapies might be recommended to reduce the risk of recurrence for patients who are considered high risk.
Metastatic Disease Therapies
Targeted therapies are those that attack the part of the cancer cells that make them different from other cells. Often targeted therapy can be used in conjunction with traditional chemotherapy for patients whose disease has metastasized.
