Endocrine Surgery
Surgery is the primary treatment for cancers of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Our patients have access to:
Preoperative Localization Studies for Parathyroid Tumors
These studies, now commonly accepted, help surgeons identify the over-active parathyroid gland before the operation.
Thyroid surgery (Thyroidectomy)
Surgery on the thyroid can remove the gland in its entirety or just in part depending on the size and location of the tumor. It is the most common procedure preformed for thyroid cancer.
Minimally invasive parathyroidectomy
The preferred method of removing parathyroid tumors, this procedure ensures little to no risk to laryngeal nerves, a smaller incision, less pain and reduced potential post-operative complications and a quicker return to normal activities.
Laparoscopic adrenalectomy
Laroscopic surgery for the removal of adrenal tumors is typically less stressful on the patient, causes less post-operative pain, requires a shorter hospital stay and less pain medicine, and allows a much faster return to regular activities than the standard open abdominal operation.
